Alright, so one of the coolest things in The Dark Knight trilogy was the Tumbler Batmobile. I mean, that thing was a lean, mean, military machine! However, it looks like Ben Affleck won’t be rolling up in some Army-style bat tank, because sources for Batman-on-Film (BoF) say that the Batman vs. Superman vehicle will be based on a Cadillac! So, is it safe to start calling it the Batillac?
According to BoF, “The Batmobile is currently being designed and built by General Motors at the GM Advanced Design Studio in North Hollywood. This is the same team who most recently designed and built the vehicles for Transformers 4 with Michael Bay. … It will definitely NOT have a military look like The Tumbler from [Chris] Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy.”
Whoa! I’m not sure how I feel about that, but I definitely do dig Cadillacs. I guess since the Batman vs. Superman movie has Bruce Wayne in his older years, he’s decided to drive around with a bit more class and a little less rough-and-Tumbler. Now, if you dig through Batman’s history, he did drive a Caddy in his very first screen appearance back in 1943. Ah, the rumor begins to make a bit more sense now!
BoF went on to claim, “As of about four weeks ago, it was still ‘pictures on the wall’ – meaning nothing had actually been built yet. An ‘old Cadillac’ will feature prominently in the film. When I remarked to my source that the Cadillac Sixteen concept car from a few years back looked a lot like a Batmobile, he stayed mum.”
