X-Men fans are already drooling over the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past movie, which is due May 23, 2014. Based on the incredibly popular “Days of Future Past” comic book storyline from Uncanny X-Men, the film features stars from both the X-Men trilogy and X-Men: First Class movies. Judging by the newly released trailer, this movie is going to be absolutely epic!
As for the ridiculously star-studded cast list, it reads like a geek’s dream come true. Talented heavyweights include some seriously popular actors like Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Shawn Ashmore, and Evan Peters.
The film, which acts as a sequel to both 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand and 2011’s X-Men: First Class, also provides a continuation of 2013’s The Wolverine. Plot-wise, the movie is about the X-Men fighting for survival of the mutant species across two different timelines, as the original X-Men trilogy characters team up with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class.
Fans of the Game of Thrones HBO show are thrilled to see Dinklage in the lineup, playing the character Bolivar Trask. You know, the same Trask who created mutant-hunting robots called Sentinels. While that certainly seems like the sort of evil scheme that’d make him a villain in the eyes of the X-Men, Dinklage describes his character as someone who “sees what he’s doing as a good thing – [his ambition is] definitely blind and he’s quite arrogant. He’s strove all his life for a certain respect and attention.”
So, suit up X-Men fans. There’s a Storm on the horizon, and she looks absolutely electric!
